Agnikul Cosmos 2024 Check Future Plans, Technological Innovation Space startup Agnikul Cosmos successfully tested its first single stage rocket. It took off from Dhanush launchpad in Sriharikota at 7.15 am. The mission is named Agnibaan SOrTeD (Sub-orbital Technology Demonstrator). Earlier, the mission was also cancelled 4 times. It was a sub-orbital flight. Sub-orbital means a flight path that goes into space but does not complete an orbit around the Earth. The vehicle reaches space, especially above 100 kilometres, and then returns without orbiting the planet.

The company informed that all the mission objectives of this controlled flight were completed. The purpose of the mission was to collect necessary data along with demonstrating in-house technology. This is the second rocket launch by a private startup in India.

Agnikul Cosmos 2024 Second Company to Achieve Feat

With the successful sub-orbital test flight of Agnibaan, Agnikul Cosmos 2024 has become the second private company in India to achieve this feat. Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace was the first private company in India to launch a sub-orbital rocket Vikram-S. Skyroot Aerospace achieved this feat in November 2022. Chennai-based space start-up Agnikul launched the Agnibaan Sub-Orbital Technology Demonstrator (SORTED) from the private test site ‘Dhanush’ at 7.15 am on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The test was not broadcast live.

The 3D printing technology used through Agnikul Cosmos represents a significant advancement in space technology. “We used 3D printing to build our engine as a single piece of hardware. The work that typically involves thousands of joints and welds was reduced to a single hardware section, reducing the cost and lead time of building our rocket,” said Srinath Ravichandran, co-founder and CEO of Agnikul Cosmos. This innovative approach not only simplifies the manufacturing process but also increases the reliability and efficiency of the rocket.

Agnikul Cosmos Future Plans 2024

Looking ahead, Agnikul Cosmos plans to fly an orbital mission by the end of fiscal year 2025. The startup is working with customers on flights that will begin in earnest in 2025. With its unprecedented achievements and ambitious plans, Agnikul Cosmos is set to play a very important role in the global space industry.
