- New South Wales Resident: The applicant must be a permanent resident of New South Wales. This implies that the applicant must have a permanent address in the state.
- Electricity account holder: The applicant must be the primary account holder for their electricity supply. That is, the electricity supply must be billed in their name.
- Concession card: The applicant must have one of the following concession cards that is currently valid:
- Pensioner Concession Card – from Services Australia or DVA
- Healthcare Card – from Services Australia
- DVA Gold Card – stamped with one of the following: “War Widow,” “Totally and Permanently Disabled” (TPI), or “Disability Pension” (EDA)

- Eligible applicants have a regular account with any retail electricity provider. The rebate is $285 per year, tax-free.

- Eligible long-term residents in residential communities – caravan and mobile home parks and retirement villages – who receive their electricity bill from their community operator receive $258.50 annually.
- These people will still be entitled to the rebate even if they are part of an embedded network whereby electricity is supplied and billed by the community operator.
The NSW Low Income Household Rebate To Change Recent
In response to the high cost of living and the ongoing energy crisis, the NSW Government has made a number of changes to the Low Income Household Rebate program.
- These changes will provide additional financial support to families experiencing difficulties with energy bills and ensure the rebate continues to be useful to families who need it.
- Higher rebate amount: The Low Income Household Rebate has been increased from $285 to $350 per household, per financial year, from 1 July 2024.
- Additional funding: The Government has provided an additional $100 million in energy relief to vulnerable families through a number of rebates, such as the Household Energy Rebate and Medical Energy Rebate.
